This is a variety of Purpurea from the Branch Ranch, Ontario, with green rods that dry to a dark sage in the basket. It came to us under the name Salix P. X. as it was an unknown purpurea, and we have started calling it Long John. It is a tall cultivar, a versatile weaver, and good for frames as well. This variety has had a great success rate in our clay soils, needing very little care, very consistent success rate, productive and very straight.
